(Frankfurt a. M., 14.03.2025) A new, state-of-the-art laboratory for testing and certification on more than 8,000 square meters: VDE Global Services GmbH is expanding its range of services in China with two partners. This means that customers can now also have automotive components tested there. As a pioneer for electromobility, China and especially Cixi as a district of Ningbo and part of the automotive region offer ideal location conditions.
Delighted with the new testing and certification laboratory in the city of Cixi: Marios Constantinou (LABCO), Jonathan Schoo (AHK Greater China), Costakis Constantinou (LABCO), Qin Haiyan (CGC), Xiang Haixia (City of Cixi), Alf Henryk Wulf (VDE), Sven Öhrke (VDE), Huang Lei (City of Cixi) and Wu Zhongxuan (VDE).

"With LABCO, we are also gaining a long-standing partner from Germany in China," emphasizes Sven Öhrke, CEO of VDE Global Services GmbH. For five years now, the VDE and the China General Certification Center (CGC) have been offering various testing options with a joint laboratory in China. The new joint venture (JV) together with LABCO now enables further testing and certification. “Together, the three companies – CGC, VDE, LABCO – will now serve the Chinese market, as well as the ASEAN market and manufacturers with a target in Europe, as ‘CVL Labor’,” says Öhrke.
With a focus on charging infrastructure and the addition of LABCO to the portfolio as the test house for automotive cables and components, the new JV is well positioned. The plan is to test charging stations for electric vehicles, automotive cables and other automotive components for compliance with international standards. The partners will also use the new laboratory to test household appliances. Further space is available for the future expansion of the portfolio.
National and international security checks
Since 2019, the joint venture between VDE and CGC in the city of Zhongshan has enabled testing in the areas of household appliances, lighting and electromagnetic compatibility. Thanks to state-of-the-art equipment, they are able to carry out national and international safety tests. This enables Chinese manufacturers to market their products worldwide and gives non-Chinese manufacturers easier access to the Chinese market for products with the VDE or CB mark. In 2021, the joint venture was expanded to include a second site in the city of Cixi, where the new laboratory has now also been built.
