(Frankfurt a. M., October 28, 2024) Electromobility is in crisis in Germany. In these times, the VDE wants to send out a positive signal and calls for no let-up in the transformation of mobility and Germany as an automotive location. This is why we are hosting the VDE E-Mobility Conference for the third time, this year in the Union Halle in Frankfurt am Main. Leading car manufacturers, international suppliers, manufacturers of charging infrastructure and testing systems, network operators, experts from standardization and science as well as project managers from funded projects are among the invited speakers.
Speakers include Thomas Bareiß, transport policy spokesman for the CDU/CSU parliamentary group in the German Bundestag, Dr. Frederik Zohm, Board Member for Research and Development at MAN Truck & Bus, Dr. Josef Wünsch, Senior Vice President R&D Performance Materials at BASF and Michael Heinemann, CEO of Phoenix Contact. Dr. Ralf Petri, Head of VDE Mobility, says: "We are very consciously looking to analyze the lessons learned in recent years and examine what is possible. We have a difficult market environment, but there are still many opportunities that need to be exploited."
From e-trucks and charging curbs to AI: future topics on the agenda
An important topic at the VDE E-Mobility Conference will be e-trucks and the associated charging infrastructure: What power is needed in the electricity grid, what can charging parks look like, how can megawatt charging be implemented? The speakers will also report on optimized charging behavior (opportunity charging), which aims to undercut the refueling time for conventional fuels. There will also be best practices and use cases on the expansion of fast charging points and charging infrastructure in existing buildings, the integration of renewable energies into electromobility and the use of sustainable materials in the automotive industry. Topics such as charging curbs, sustainable supply chains, cybersecurity and AI using the example of a driverless regional train are also on the agenda.
The aim of the VDE E-Mobility Conference is to create a cross-sector dialog between politics, industry and society through a mix of keynotes, specialist presentations, discussion panels and an exhibition in order to jointly develop solutions for the future of electromobility in Germany.
