(Frankfurt a. M., 17.09.2024) The ECOC is one of the largest international conferences in the field of optical communication and Europe's most prestigious. It brings together scientists, engineers and managers from all over the world. It is the most important platform for visitors to find out about innovations and approaches in the field of optical technologies. The Association for Electrical, Electronic & Information Technologies (VDE) is organizing the anniversary edition of the conference – 50 years of ECOC – which will take place this year from 22 to 26 September at the exhibition grounds in Frankfurt am Main. Around 3,000 trade visitors are expected to attend.
As a central contact point for experts from the telecommunications industry, the ECOC offers an ideal opportunity to present the latest developments in optical communication technology. It also promotes the exchange between research and industry.
A wide range of topics awaits visitors at the conference. In seven parallel sessions, experts will provide information on topics such as the development of IP and optical networks, silicon photonics 4.0, current research results, innovations and business opportunities in this dynamic industry. Presentations with the latest findings and various workshops on current topics in the community, such as quantum communication in optical fibers and in free space, will provide an opportunity for discussion. There will also be sessions on topics such as women in photonics and photonics in Germany.
At the trade fair in Frankfurt, more than 300 international exhibitors will present their solutions and the latest market developments that will further advance the expansion and efficiency of fiber optic networks and optical transmission systems.
Innovation is the driving force behind the industry
“It is a great honor for us to be able to organize the conference here in Frankfurt in this special anniversary year of the ECOC. We have put together a wide-ranging program for our trade visitors from the world of optical communication technology,” says Dr.-Ing. Damian Dudek, Managing Director of the Information Technology Society within VDE (VDE ITG) "The trade fair offers the ideal opportunity to present innovative topics in the field of optical communication to a broad international audience. Especially in times when digitalization is constantly advancing, the further development of optical networks plays a central role for the future of communication technologies."
