Charging station for electric vehicles

Wed, Nov 6, 2024 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM CET | Dennis Hügen

Germany is an important and highly interesting market in the European union for electric vehicle charging equipment.
As the market is not set already, Germany offers many market opportunities for charging station manufacturers.
On the other hand, it seems that Germany is also strictly regulated, which might harmonize to the European union.

In this presentation, I would like to talk about the regulations in Germany with a special focus on the German calibration law. Also, part of the webinar, will the calibration law be extended to EU level and what this could mean for consumers and manufacturers?

We look forward to your participation in our free online Webinar.

Product Compliance - a 360-Degree overview - Introduction to Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) - All waste, right?!?

Different modern kitchen appliances

Mon, Nov 11, 2024 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM CET | André Gierke, EPR compact GmbH & Co. KG / Dr. Ulrich Becker and Sinje Maier, CMS Germany

Extended producer responsibility (EPR - including WEEE/ElektroG, Batt-VO, VerpackG) is a decisive factor for compliant market access.
As a specific "sub-niche" of product compliance, the EPR includes, among other things, (additional) product & packaging requirements, labeling and information obligations, registration obligations, take-back obligations and waste prevention measures. But correct, available and applicable data also play a central role. All of these aspects must be mastered so that products can be offered or placed on the market in a member state.

In this webinar, we will take a close look at the EPR and learn to understand it: from its basic principles, through its dimensions, roles and requirements, to corresponding implementation strategies.

We look forward to your participation in our free online seminar.

Chemical product testing at the VDE Institute

Thu, Nov 14, 2024 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM CET | Dr. Michael Riess, VDE Institute / Dr. Ulrich Becker and Sinje Maier, CMS Germany

When does a product meet the requirements of RoHS, REACH, POP, and the Battery Ordinance?

A wide range of regulatory requirements regarding chemical product safety must be met when placing electrical products on the market. The person placing the product on the market is responsible for ensuring that the products meet the regulatory requirements and that the production processes and supply chains are monitored. A lot of detailed work has to be done because not all stages of the supply chain always have to meet the standard requirements and additional requirements are regularly added, such as stricter limit values. At the same time, the supervisory authorities are showing increased activity. What tools and methods are available in the field of product testing and what current developments are there?

We look forward to your participation in our free online seminar.

Tue, Nov 19, 2024 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM CET | Borga Duruk

This online seminar deals with testing and certification options for communicating, intelligent and electronic switches for fixed installation.
Testing for electrical safety, EMC, environmental aspects and the application of international standards all contribute to the safe use of products by the end user. In contrast to mechanical switches, electronic switches contain many different special test and evaluation points. This is partly due to the different components that are built into the switches.
We would like to bring you up to date on the requirements and other options for testing electronic switches in our online seminar.

We look forward to your participation in our free online seminar.

Engineers in steel factory working on digital tablet

Wed, Nov 20, 2024 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM CET | Daniel Röhrs, VDE Global Services / Dr. Ulrich Becker and Sinje Maier, CMS Germany

After a product has been developed and qualified, the technical documentation is created, including labels on the packaging and product. During subsequent production at locations that are often distributed globally, it must be ensured that the product corresponds to the qualified and documented status. Risks arise, particularly when purchasing a commercial product, which must be minimized. The LkSG (Supply Chain Due Diligence Act) creates new requirements for monitoring suppliers in the supply chain. And here, too, we offer solutions in connection with due diligence and documentation obligations through supplier audits.

The entire pre-shipment inspection process is digitized using the VDE Inspection Management System (IMS). Inspections can be conveniently booked and managed online. The status of each process can be viewed continuously in real time.

In the presentation, Daniel Röhrs, Managing Director China, will present various options for production monitoring. Dr. Ulrich Becker, lawyer at CMS Germany, will also provide information on the legal framework for production requirements.

We look forward to your participation in our free online seminar.

Fri, Dec 6, 2024 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM CET | Dr. Sebastian Hallensleben, VDE / Dr. Markus Kaulartz, Dr. Ulrich Becker and Sinje Maier, CMS Germany

The AI Act will essentially come into force in April 2026 and must be implemented for the applications covered by it by then. This causes many companies to fear that they will face a repeat of the often chaotic situation experienced in 2018 with the GDPR. In this webinar, we will highlight a very important difference: In contrast to the GDPR, the AI Act will have so-called "harmonized standards" that describe a non-binding but legally secure way to comply with the AI Act. We explain the mechanism and give tips on what companies can prepare for today.

A number of different requirements are placed on the placing of electronic and electrical items on the market. The legal minimum requirements are diverse and spread across various horizontal and vertical legal acts.

Not only the Low Voltage Directive 2014/35/EU, the Directive 2014/30/EU on electromagnetic compatibility or the Directive 2014/53/EU for radio equipment must be observed. The chemical requirements of the RoHS Directive 2011/65/EU, the REACH Regulation (EC) 1907/2006 and the POP Regulation (EU) 2019/1021 must also be observed. Last but not least, economic operators must also keep the Directive 2012/19/EU on waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) in mind before placing the item on the market.

A new addition is Regulation (EU) 2023/1542 on batteries and waste batteries, which introduces many new requirements and challenges for companies over a timeline.

Our seminar provides an overview of the diverse (new) requirements and new challenges in the context of electrical items and provides practical advice.

Your speakers are Sebastian Jockusch, Managing Director of fox compliance GmbH and Dr. Ulrich Becker, lawyer at CMS Germany.
