From 2015 to 2023, he has been Managing Director of VDE Renewables, a global subsidiary of the VDE Group that provides quality assurance, risk mitigation and international certification for products and systems. In this role, Mr. Holder has built up a global network of banks and insurance companies, continuously developing the criteria for financing and insurability of energy systems.
Previously, Mr. Holder held various management positions with the VDE Group, the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems, the solar industry, the International Solar Energy Society (ISES) and was commissioned by the Singapore Government to set up an application-oriented research institute (SERIS). Since November 2023, he is the Global Director of Trends, Innovation and International Networks for the VDE Group advising on energy initiatives. In this role he is also the Program Director for the VDE Financial Dialogue Initiative.
Mr. Holder was an appointed expert on renewable energy policy and industry development for the German Government from 1996 to 2004 and export spokesperson for the German solar industry at the German Solar Industry Association (BSW) from 2009 - 2015. At the same time, he was Advisor/Liaison Officer to the President at the European Renewables Energy Centers Agency (EUREC) in Brussels.
In 2019, Mr. Holder was appointed as a member of the Advisory Board of the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems (Fraunhofer ISE) and is currently the Chairman of the Board.
Since August 2023, Mr. Holder has been nominated as a member of the Senate of the Economy, Germany. The Senate of Economy consists of experienced and recognized personalities from the fields of economics, science and society, who are entirely aware of their responsibility towards state and society.
