In the meantime, the CIG procedure has been upgraded to become an independent “scheme” within ETICS (European Testing Inspection Certification System).
This means that the CIG procedure as an inspection procedure is now on with the same level as the ENEC, HAR and CCA certification procedures that have long been established in Europe.
With this step and for the first time, it will be possible for interested certification bodies to obtain independent membership in this procedure.
VDE is one of the few organisations that already took part in the development and introduction of the first forerunners of the European inspection procedure.
Even today, VDE is still significantly involved in the further development of this procedure.
For example, the head of the VDE inspection body has been the chairman of the committee responsible for this procedure within ETICS for more than 15 years.
He also chairs the newly founded Inspection Policy Committee (IPC), which is responsible for the strategic development of the CIG inspection procedure.
