This webinar explains the assessment of the sustainability of electrical and electronic products in terms of the criteria of repairability, recyclability, LCA and carbon footprint.
Repairability
Repairing electrical products contributes to sustainable consumption. In order to make it easier to repair an electrical product, important factors must already be taken into account at the product design level. Using the evaluation scheme developed by the VDE, a uniform and quantifiable assessment of repairability can be carried out.
Recyclability
The material composition of electrical products is complex and differs from product to product. In order to be able to recover valuable material components, knowledge of the product's recyclability is crucial. The calculation of recyclability is presented, on the basis of which potential for improvement in product recycling can be shown.
Life Cycle Assessment and Carbon Footprint
The life cycle (production, transport, use, disposal) of electrical products has an impact on the environment in many ways, with many different factors playing a role. Life cycle assessment can be used to comprehensively evaluate these impacts. The calculation as specifically tailored to the products examined is presented, as well as the determination of the CO2 footprint of the products.
